Careful Arrangements and Ad-libbing

-11 days to departure

"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free." - Frederick Douglass

As busy as the past few weeks of preparations have been, I am certain our levels of industry and go go go! will be double when we're on the ground in Liberia.

Our trip will no doubt consist of equal measures of planned itinerary vs improvisation and careful arrangement vs fly by the seat of our pants ad-libbing. Looking forward to it.

Here's a tentative, general day by day plan:

  • Mar 28 - 30, Mon - Wed: Arrival, acclimation, initial promotion, meet-and-greets, seminar preparations.
  • Mar 31 - Apr 1, Thu - Fri: Literacy education seminar at venue to be determined in Monrovia.
  • Apr 2 - 4, Sat - Mon: Trip to Nimba County for possible second literacy education seminar in Ganta, or other suitable city, venue to be determined.
  • Apr 5 - 6, Tue - Wed: Back in Monrovia for promotion, meet-and-greet, conference preparations.
  • Apr 7, Thu: Education policy stakeholders conference at venue to be determined in Monrovia.
  • Apr 8, Fri: Follow-up, one-on-one meetings with stakeholders for partnership commitments.
  • Apr 9, Sat: Wrap-up with Applied Scholastics/Youth for Human Rights teams on the ground for delivery planning, scheduling for the remainder of the year and beyond.
  • Apr 10, Sun: US team departs for home.
